Punctuations of dehiscence

….I think of  his earlier compositions where into the body of the musical statement  he incorporates a punctuations of dehiscence, flottements, the coherence gone to pieces, the continuity bitched to hell, because the units of continuity  have abdicated their unity, they have gone multiple, they fall apart the notes fly about, a blizzard of electrons.”   Samuel Becket 1932 Dream of Fair to Middling Women unpublished.

The installation concerns itself with the  difficulties of representational strategies in relation to violence (gendered violence)  specifically in dialogue with minimalism, attempting to negotiate its apparent “rhetoric of power” as interpreted through the lens of feminist discourse.  Punctuations of Dehiscence is a large installation involving three videos, three slide series, a sound piece and a bubble machine. (First exhibited in NCAD 1995)
